Please respond to the government consultation on the new abortion law in Northern Ireland

The law on abortion in Northern Ireland is changing, and the proposed changes will make it even easier to get an abortion here than in the rest of the UK. The purpose of the consultation is for the people of Northern Ireland to give their views to help the government define the finer terms of the new abortion law.

It is important that as many Christians as possible respond to the consultation in a way that will try to protect life and mitigate the extremes of the new legislation. There will be plenty of other people using this consultation to try and make it as easy as possible to have an abortion.

Why should you care? In England and Wales in 2018 there were 205,295 abortions. 97.7 of these were categorised as due to the 'mental health' of the mother, i.e. the baby was healthy. There were 633,333 births in England and Wales in 2018, so thats 1 in 4 pregnancies got aborted. The proposed legislation will make it even easier to get an abortion in N.I.

The deadline for responding to the consultation is Mon 16th December at 11:45pm. To help you fill it in please consider the following.

  • Watch the Evangelical Alliance complete the consultation live on Facebook at 7:30 on Monday 9th.
  • Get more information on the consultation at Reimagining Faith including a link to the actual consultation
  • Join us in the Bell Room at 8pm on Wednesday evening when we will help you complete it. Feel free to bring your laptop.
  • Please consider the consultation prayerfully, and especially think how Christians can give a better option so that vulnerable people don't feel that abortion is their only way. Please see Both Lives Matter for more information.

It's church, only different....We meet in a relaxed venue within our halls complex over coffee and delicious food. Please come along, we are a friendly bunch of ordinary folk! 6 weeks starting Sunday 10th November at 6.30pm.

Welcome to Ballyclare Presbyterian Church – or at least to our website! We would love to welcome you personally because we want to be a church that is warm and welcoming to everybody – a church that is very much part of our community and that is committed to serving it. We believe that ‘People Matter to God’ and our aim is to be that kind of church. At the very heart of our church life is our conviction that Jesus Christ gives us a foundation, a framework and a future for life, and our own aim is to learn to trust in Jesus more, and to be a church that helps other people to do so also. Please feel free to contact us, or even better call in and see us – either during the week, or better still, on Sunday – I think you’ll find a welcome. By the way, Sundays are fairly informal and relaxed in dress code, as well as in every other way, and we’d just love to meet you.
